La téchiru conicaĺrgica se realiza a través de una incisión realizada en el interior de la cavidad oral, por lo que no queda ningún tipo de cicatriz visible.
En el acto quirúrgico se realiza una resección de la llamada bolsa adiposa de Bichat, que es un acumulo de grasa situado en la mejilla. La extracción de dicha grasa produce un adelgazamiento de la mejilla.
El beneficio esperado es la disminución del aspecto de plenitud de las mejillas, resaltando los pómulos y los arcos mandibulares, dando el aspecto de un rostro estilizado.
